2. Do Your Own Research
Look up the company on LinkedIn, visit their website, connect with people who know the company, and review any news or awards. The more informed you are the better, and you can have an opinion on recent projects and work you've been impressed by.
3. Read the Job Description Thoroughly
Read the job description multiple times. Think about examples where you've already performed similar duties and use the STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to frame your experiences.
4. Prepare an Event Addendum
Create an addendum showcasing your clients, projects, and budgets. Include facts and figures to back up your points. This is fundamental in our industry and will give you lots to talk about in terms of the top 3 elements you have found most challenging and rewarding at work. Who were your key clients? Any international experience?
5. Prepare Your Questions
Think about questions you want to ask about the role and the company. Consider what specifically attracts you to this opportunity. You are interviewing them, too!
6. Present the Best Version of Yourself
- Ensure you have access to Microsoft Teams or Zoom and find a quiet place to log in early
- Dress for the role you want.
- Research the company thoroughly. Understand their ethos, clients, and recent news.
- Use the job description to demonstrate how your experience matches their requirements. Include figures and statistics where possible.
- Highlight your best qualities with specific examples.
7. Highlight Your Leadership Qualities

8. Close the Meeting Effectively
- Express your interest in the role and be specific about why you want it with this company.
- Ask when you will hear back and if they need any additional information.
- Leave the interviewer with no doubt that you want the job!
